Casa Madeirense is strategically located on the main road from Lido to the city center of Funchal. From the street, it may look a bit dark and rustic inside, but there is also a covered outdoor seating area which is quite pleasant. The food is delicious, although not cheap, but definitely worth it to taste the traditional cuisine. Make sure you ask for the “fried corn” if you don’t request a meat dish. The octopus is tender and highly recommended, as is the tropical swordfish!
