O Museu da Cidade is a hHistory museum, created with the target of registering and to showcasing the history of Lisbon in the different stages of its urban development, economic evolution, politics, social and of the mentalities. It currently presents a museulogical program that traces a chronological passage of the evolution of the city, since the occupation of the territory during daily pre-history until the Formation of the Republic in 1910.

One of its most well knonwned collections is of artefacts that date the fisrt occupation of human beings in lisbon, dated of 300 000 B.C. 100 000 B.C.; the first representations of the city of Lisbon; the projects for the innovative workmanship of construction of the Aqueduto das aguas livres; of the construction of  Baixa Pombalina, which appeared after the Earthquake of 1755; finishing with the Destiny.
