Ricardo Carvalho & Joana Vilhena Arquitectos were hired to renovate the dilapidated, five storey neoclassical building in Lisbon’s historic centre, which would be home to the new Mude. Most of the 1.4 million euro budget was spent on structural improvements, and the top floors are still not complete. Taking inspiration from projects such as New York’s P.S.1, the architects created a raw but eloquent setting for the fashion and design artifacts it displays.
